Descripción completa del empleo
Quantic Colombia S.A.S. is gearing to be a Colombian engineering hub of its parent company based in US. Our Barranquilla office is a collaborative, growth-oriented team where engineers work directly on production systems, own their features end-to-end, and have real impact on the products we ship. We invest in our people through modern tooling, strong engineering culture, and continuous learning.
We are looking for a Senior Node.js Developer to join our team in Barranquilla. You will design, build, and maintain the backend services that power our platform. This is a hands-on senior role: you will own significant technical decisions, mentor mid-level engineers, and help shape our architecture as we scale.
You will work closely with product managers, designers, QA, and frontend engineers in a modern, agile environment. English is used regularly for technical documentation and collaboration with international teammates and clients.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and TypeScript/Nest JS.
- Own features end-to-end: from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring in production.
- Architect and evolve microservices and event-driven systems.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and champion strong engineering practices (code review, testing, observability, documentation).
- Optimize application performance, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate with product and design partners to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
- Mentor mid-level and junior developers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical roadmap decisions.
- Help improve our CI/CD, deployment, and development workflows.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years building production Node.js applications.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES2020+).
- Deep experience with Node.js frameworks such as NestJS, Express, or Fastify.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design; experience with GraphQL is a plus.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and an ORM/query builder (Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize, Knex).
- Working knowledge of NoSQL stores (Couchbase, Redis) and caching strategies.
- Strong grasp of microservices architecture, service communication patterns, and API gateways.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) — services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, or equivalents.
- Poficiency with Git and collaborative workflows (pull requests, code review).
- Understanding of authentication and security best practices (OAuth 2.0, JWT, OWASP Top 10).
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher (written and spoken) for technical collaboration.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS/SNS.
- Serverless experience (AWS Lambda, Cloud Functions).
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).
- Frontend familiarity with React, Next.js, or similar.
- Domain experience in fintech, e-commerce, SaaS, or logistics.
- Contributions to open-source projects or an active technical portfolio.
- Experience mentoring or leading small engineering teams.
Soft Skills We Value
- Strong ownership mindset — you finish what you start and take responsibility for production quality.
- Clear communication, both in writing and in meetings.
- Curiosity and a habit of continuous learning.
- Ability to balance pragmatism with engineering excellence.
- Collaborative and respectful in code reviews and technical discussions.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary: COP 12,000,000 – 16,000,000 monthly gross, based on experience (negotiable for exceptional candidates).
- Contrato a término indefinido with all statutory benefits: prima de servicios, cesantías, intereses de cesantías, vacaciones, and auxilio de transporte where applicable.
- Medicina prepagada (private health plan) for you and eligible dependents.
- Hybrid work model: 3 days in our Barranquilla office, 2 days remote (flexible).
- Annual learning and development budget for courses, certifications, conferences, and books.
- Modern hardware (MacBook Pro or high-spec Windows/Linux laptop) and equipment stipend for your home setup.
- Paid time off beyond legal minimum, plus flexible time off for personal matters.
- Performance bonus tied to individual and company goals.
- Career growth path with clear seniority progression (Senior → Staff → Principal / Tech Lead).
- Direct exposure to international projects and clients.
- A collaborative, low-bureaucracy engineering culture.
Location & Work Model
Our office is located in Barranquilla, Atlántico. This role is hybrid — we expect on-site presence a few days per week to support collaboration, mentoring, and team culture. Candidates must be based in Barranquilla or willing to relocate (relocation support available for exceptional candidates from other Colombian cities).
