Position Title: Backend Developer

Location: Remote - LATAM

What you will be doing:

We are seeking a Senior level Back End Developer to join our growing Platform Engineering & Innovation Lab teams. This role is ideal for a developer with a strong JavaScript/TypeScript background (Java experience is also acceptable) and hands-on experience with infrastructure, DevOps, and security practices. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on the development of frameworks and templates for scalable applications. The team is small and highly collaborative, sharing resources between platform engineering and AI innovation initiatives. The team spans across North America, South America, and India.

• Develop and maintain scalable back-end services using JavaScript/TypeScript (or Java).
• Design and implement frameworks and templates for JavaScript and TypeScript applications.
• Work with NoSQL databases (Elasticsearch) and relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle).
• Deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Implement messaging systems using Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Optimize and secure applications by applying DevOps and security best practices.
• Collaborate with the innovation lab to integrate AI frameworks and drive AI-focused development.
• Work closely with the team to ensure independent problem-solving while maintaining structured support for project goals.
• Oversee data migration and query optimization during the transition from on-premise to AWS-managed Elasticsearch instances.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5 years of experience in backend development with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong expertise in Node.js and modern backend frameworks.
• Proficiency in MySQL or other relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with Elasticsearch (or similar search technologies) and caching solutions like Redis.
• Solid understanding of event-driven architectures and experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging platforms.
• Expertise in developing and integrating RESTful APIs and gRPC services.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker for container orchestration and deployment.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).
• Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
• Knowledge of security best practices for backend development.
• AI experience: LangChain or similar. Or any AI experience in general.
• Engage with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data warehouses for effective data management and analysis.
