Role Description: A Medical Biller or Lien Negotiator in a personal injury law firm makes sure that all of a client's medical bills are correctly recorded and paid. They work with doctors and insurance companies to get bills lowered if possible, track every medical cost so the attorney can present it in the case, and help make sure the client gets the maximum amount possible from their settlement

Responsibilities:

  • Lien Management: Monitor, track, and update lien statuses for active cases, ensuring timely lien resolution and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Negotiation Support: Assist attorneys with lien negotiations by gathering relevant documentation, reviewing lien amounts, and organizing settlement information.
  • Communication with Providers: Liaise with medical providers, insurance companies, and lienholders to confirm balances, request reductions, and obtain necessary documentation.
  • Case Tracking and Updates: Track case progress and update attorneys on lien-related developments, deadlines, and settlement impacts.
  • Medical Treatment Recording: Accurately record, bill, and track all medical treatments a client receives, including doctor visits, therapy, surgeries, and other medical care.
  • Managing Medical Liens: Manage medical liens, ensuring that bills are accurate and negotiating with medical providers to reduce costs, maximizing the client's settlement.
  • Insurance Coverage Verification:Verify insurance coverage, file claims, and work with insurance companies to ensure maximum coverage of medical bills before the settlement is used.
  • Recordkeeping of Medical Expenses: Maintain detailed and organized records of all medical expenses related to the case, ensuring they are complete and accurate for settlement purposes.
  • Monitoring Unpaid Medical Bills:Monitor and follow up on unpaid or underpaid medical bills, resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Timely Processing of Medical Bills:Ensure timely processing of medical bills to avoid delays in settlement and payment.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced English proficiency (C1 level, required).
  • 1+ years of experience in lien negotiation, medical billing, or a related role.
  • Familiarity with lien management and negotiation processes, including state and federal regulations on lien compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for tracking and recording case and medical billing information.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with medical providers, insurance companies, and lienholders.
  • Proficiency in managing and organizing medical expense records, tracking unpaid bills, and verifying insurance coverage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and provide accurate, timely updates on lien-related case developments.
