Job Description:

Seeking Senior Software Engineer to oversee applications within the H&R Block Information Security team. In this position, you will take a lead role on development projects, writing, testing, and deploying code and cloud infrastructure. Applicants should have strong development, communication, and leadership skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the team's DevOps strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to provision and maintain a scalable and reliable infrastructure. Including troubleshooting application issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations.
• Automate and streamline deployment processes, minimizing manual intervention and improving system efficiency. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact the business.
• Implement security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability scanning, to protect company data and systems.
• Collaborate with development team(s) to implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, enabling faster and more reliable software releases.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact and recommending adoption where appropriate.
• Mentor and guide junior DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

What you'll bring to the team...Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.

Work Experience:

• 5 years Minimum related work experience
• Bachelor's or master's degree in software development, computer science, or a related field
• (Full-stack) Software development experience (5+ years preferred)
• Experience with .Net C# web development or similar (C#)
• Experience with front-end frameworks (Angular or similar)
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, or similar)
• Experience with database management (SQL Server or similar)
• Experience with Source Control Management (Git)
• Experience using IDEs (Visual Studio or similar – comfort with debugging)
• Experience with working with cloud architecture environment
• Experience with Infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar) is a plus
• Experience leading a project using Agile and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of Object Oriented/MVC/Observer software design patterns
• Knowledge of standard testing practices
• Interest in Information Security
