Our team culture emphasizes collaboration, professional growth, and delivering exceptional value to clients.

Position Overview

As a Senior Accountant, you will be a key member of our professional team, overseeing complex accounting and tax engagements while mentoring junior staff. You’ll handle sophisticated bookkeeping and reporting tasks, prepare and review tax returns, and leverage your knowledge of financial planning services to identify additional client needs. Proficiency in both Spanish and English is essential for communicating with a broad client base. Additionally, you will help optimize workflows using CCH Axcess and QuickBooks (Desktop & Online), ensuring top-notch client service and team efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting & Bookkeeping
  • Lead monthly and quarterly close processes for business and individual clients.
  • Supervise complex reconciliations (bank accounts, credit cards, loan statements) and ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Use QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online to manage, review, and optimize bookkeeping processes.
  • Tax Preparation & Review
  • Prepare and review federal and state tax returns (individual, corporate, partnership), including multi-state and international considerations.
  • Oversee and guide junior accountants on tax engagements, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations.
  • Utilize CCH Axcess for advanced tax preparation, project tracking, and documentation management.
  • Client Advisory & Communication
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, offering insights on financial statements, budgeting, and tax-saving opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively in Spanish and English, addressing client inquiries, presenting findings, and recommending tailored solutions.
  • Identify prospects for additional services offered by our in-house financial planner, such as investment advice, retirement planning, and insurance strategies.
  • Team Leadership & Mentoring
  • Coach and train junior accountants, promoting professional growth and ensuring consistent quality of work.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, monitor progress, and review deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with senior management and CPAs on complex engagements, deadlines, and strategic initiatives.
  • Process Improvement & Software Optimization
  • Implement best practices in CCH Axcess for accurate time tracking, billing, and data management.
  • Optimize QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online configurations, streamlining workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Proactively seek new software features or integrations that can enhance client service and internal operations.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all accounting and tax work adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready files and uphold the firm’s commitment to ethical and professional conduct.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA track a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and taxation, preferably in a public accounting environment
  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess (tax prep, project management) and QuickBooks (Desktop & Online)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages
  • Demonstrable knowledge of financial planning concepts, such as investments, insurance, and retirement accounts
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, capable of multitasking in a deadline-driven setting
  • Leadership aptitude with the ability to guide and mentor junior staff

Preferred Attributes

  • CPA license or significant progress toward CPA certification
  • Experience with international or multi-state tax filings
  • Familiarity with high net-worth clients and complex entity structures
