Zero work/life balance. 72hour work weeks

Union anticsPay: it's compressed rate. So it's not $22.40, it's actually $19.77. a lot of funny business, and no current employee can explain the pay to you.Work hours: says 4on/4off. (But it's NOT) you work 2 days, 2 nights, then MANDATORY overtime on your 2 middle days off. And they can be 2 days, day & a night or 2 nights. Resulting in zero days off (time on all days without the double pay) really jacks up your sleep pattern. Most employees talk about leaving/looking for another job, the others are walking zombies living off caffeine. You get no vacation your first year, ZERO. First 4months you can not use sick or your 2 floating holidays. Employees treat you differently because they do not think you will last the 4 month probation period. Wish most don't, that's why they hire so much, because the turnover rate is terrible. This job is for those that want zero life, never want to be home, and love being sleep deprived.

pay is good

I just keep coming back to see the stupid stuff management comes up with next. Just when you think they can't do anything worse they'll prove you wrong.

It’s ok

Good place to work. Great pay and benefits are similar to other companies. As long as you can ignore all the BS that goes on. Occasionally free HBQ lunch’s in the summer.

Mandatory OT

If you want to work 6-8 , 12 hour days get off at 630am and have to be at work at 630am the next day this is the place for you ! You will be allowed to miss 5 days a year before acquiring 10 points and being terminated but will schedule you 280 days of year and wonder why there company turnovers so high.

Decent place to work

Not a bad place to work. Not perfect but no job is. Overall management tries to work with employees. Coworkers help whenever possible.. Also good benefits

Quarterly bonuses based on perfomance.

You have the potential to earn quarterly bonuses based on your performance. There are opportunities for overtime if interested. You are paid for shift differentials.

Not culturally diverse. A lot of racist comments are made.

Decent place to work.

Good work life balance, and safe environment. Advancement can be a little slow. Decent benefits 401k plan matched. Pretty good job for anyone looking to get a good foundation in manufacturing.

High turnover, terrible management

Turnover rate is very high. Management is terrible from the on site management all the way up through regional HR. Very unethical behaviors from within management and supervisors. Extreme management turnover.

Good Place to work. Lots of opportunities. Very good corporate culture.

Well-run company. Corporate values actually mean something here. They drive respect, innovation, entrepreneurship. They pay decent but do not give regular raises. I have learned a tremendous amount working here and have mostly enjoyed it. Employees are encouraged to provide input and feedback and managers really listen to them.

Poor management over central region

Leaders over certain plants do not practice MBM or company policies.They are bullies with no integrity and hide it from executive leadership.Regional and plant management specifically over the central Region and Wyoming specifically.

Look elsewhere

I would recommend moving to china to work in a sweat shop over working here. They don’t care about their employees only production. You get paid that’s the only positive thing about this place

Forced weekly OT, very poor in the maintenance area

They fail to let you know that you get 2 forced overtimes a week every week. They don’t have any plans to slow things down either. The maintenance here is the worst I’ve seen. Jamming planks into equipment to get belts to run right instead of taking the time to actually fix it. This mill is built on duct tape.

Nice Place

Days are usually normal. The staff is friendly. Look forward to enjoying my time here. The work schedules are a little long with the shift work. Overall nice place to work.

Don't work here.

It's a job. Long hours swing shifts. Pay is ok. Fiberglass in the air. Dirty job in a hot environment. The depending on what you do there you will be ok for a while.

Co-workers enjoyable to work with.

The management team at the Darlington facility are inconsistent with direction and operation of the facility. Not always willing to invest the time in addressing the issues, but instead put temporary “window dressing” to make it appear that the issue is being addressed for future improvement. This causes high salary turnover.

Good pay and the work is easy and fun

Its a great job and you will make decent money. It can be a lifelong career that could take you anywhere. Overall Georgia Pacific is a good company to work for. The Fort dodge plant is a disaster though, I would recommend a different location. Management is definitely a big problem. You will absolutely be put in situations by your supervisors that will comprise your integrity. You'll be told by supervisors to do things you know you shouldn't. Examples: putting board away to sell even though they know it doesnt pass quality control, ignoring lockout procedure so they can get to a jam up faster because they are more worried about their numbers. Most of the forklifts wouldn't pass inspection but employees forced to drive them anyway. The whole work environment is centered around favoritism and its a constant competition between crews. The company should be a team. Not a bunch of small teams competing against each other.

Old lumber mill

A typical day at work involves helping operators and maintenance for a couple hours during startup. Then the rest of the 12 hour shift is being ready for breakdowns and being able to troubleshoot.

Poor Management

Management sucks. People get hurt and workers comp Denys their claim. People get promised better positions and get passed over by new hires. Lack of focus on third shift. Lots of down time. Company refuses to het proper working parts and lets machines fall apart. They hire mechanics that are inept.

Talk safety, push production - all about numbers. Not given the time or resources to do the jobs properly.Upper management uses 50’s management to rule - do it my way or else. Good ole boy network is fully functional and applied.
