Very bad company to work for, no training, pay is bad, no time off.

This company only cares about profit and not their people. G4S has bad management it is a do as i say not as i do type work environment.Absolutely no training they just throw you to the wolves and expect you to know what you're supposed to do.Work more than 40 hours without getting paid

Horrible. just horrible.

I was hired as a staff mentor which is a shift manager - but i had no management power and the administration did not care about managing staff. things that you were supposed to be fired for such as sleeping on shift or letting kids fight? You were given a "stern talking too" and that was the end of it. Hitting your supervisor? No big deal. Not responding to codes? Ok. Giving the kids drugs and money? well, only as a means to control their behavior. Do you have morals and ethics? Don't work here.

The kids were generally really great, surprisingly.

Terrible company as a whole.

They prioritize abusing their staff and they only think about themselves If you go to management with an issue then you are looked at as the issue and then mistreated

Good co-workers

The staff of the contract is great to be around. The co-workers get a long and get the tasks completed and timely. The upper management needs more clear direction and less mis direction on the rules and regulations to fallow.

bad management

They did not provide assistance when i dealt with a suicide in the building i was working in and did not provide counseling for said issue. They had me go on like nothing had happened

My days were typically busy. I learned about CPR and FIRST AID. the hardest part of my day was the start of the day you have so many people to watch go through a gate.

Boring but easy

The experience at g4s depends on the post you are given. They are the world's second largest employer so don't expect to ever get attention from company management. The post captains will be who you answer to. Most of them are doing the best they can and are very nice. I was able to work full time and part time. The post captains was very reasonable with scheduling. I worked full time with three and a half days off a week. Not bad. I work two days of the week 8 hours and two overnights 12 hours. Overtime is scarce. Hardly any advancement that matters. You can become a shift lead but will not receive any further compensation for such. Just a new title

Most co-workers are trying to make some money. Every post is different.

In the beginning it was a good atmosphere to work. They understood if a family issue came up and gave you the necessary time to fix your situation. Pay was dependent on the post assigned to. So it would vary. A change in management changed the work atmosphere. Before management would stop by and check on one. Now they distanced themselves. They didn't care if one had to travel over an hour to get to a site which doesn't equal in what one spends on gas and tires for one's personal vehicle.

G4s is a good company to work for great reliable company good benefits. I would recommend to others for employment. it's a big company and a positive work place.

Constant turnover, very low pay, no job security

There was a 66 percent turnover rate in the SW Florida market that management would not openly acknowledge and work toward a viable solution. This meant that all posts and offices were understaffed, but someone had to cover the shifts and hours. Due to this employee shortage, overtime hours had to be paid- which sent off alarm bells to upper management. Unfortunately, the solution was to yell at the employees for working overtime and diverting attention away from the key core issue causing the problem. Management has a "knee-jerk" reaction to issues facing the business. There does not appear to be a well thought out road map for overall company and employee success by upper management. STAY AWAY.

G4’s is alright if u have a retirement check from job or social security. Also good for your person going to school.

They don’t pay enough to support a family. Management turnover was for worse . Took temp post then had no post for 2 weeks . Been there 4 years. No raise . Salary goes by post . 10.50-13.50. Have dental and vision. They don’t help pay for any insurance. Just offer it to employees. I stayed because retired from state job. Used as second income. Hopefully new managers will lean to give preference by seniority. They cater to new people. Forget about loyal employees

Work by yourself

Good company and a pretty easy job, but can be busy at times. Interact with residence of the community that you control entry to. The pay is good for the work done, but not enough to pay all the bills

Great supplementary income, if needed.

G4S can be an okay place to work as supplementary income, or to stay afloat while looking for more work. The pay is not enough to live on solely. The best part of the job is the different people one can encounter. The quality of work experience depends on where one works (i.e. the post), or who one works with (i.e. the supervisor, fellow employees).

One of the better security firms

I worked at multiple sites for G4S and the assignments varied. In most cases it was not stressful. I learned about how the security industry operates. I obtained my security license through classes at the branch office. The pay is competitive for the area, but it rarely enough to live on generally speaking. As a security officer you can expect to work weekends and holidays. I often had to work overtime as well, and usually without advanced notice. Management seemed to have a lot of turnover which influences exactly what prioritizes are emphasized, but didn't impact us on any regular basis. They offer benefits, but they are not great. G4S is probably one of the better security providers out there. They are a large company so there is potential for advancement although many don't seem to believe this.

custom protection officer

pretty good company, only dealt with the boss that was at the site you provide security for the most part. Good hours easily switchable if needed, just not enough pay

Management is a joke.

A typical day at work would be okay for the most part until dealing with certain guests but I toughen it out and keep my composure in a professional manner like any other job. I've leaned to not take things personal when dealing with other personalities. Management was terrible. Workplace culture was diverse. The hardest part about this job was the communication between management and other employers. The most enjoyable part about this job was meeting new people that I became well acquainted with and clocking out.

Great Company with really good pay and decent benefits only reason I left is because we lost the contract but overall it was the best job ive ever had in my life

Worst place ever to work!

Ive been with company for years! And its just getting worse by the day.... The management treats you like garbage unless they need something from you. No appreciation for loyalty, if something goes down they blame you to the point you are dismissed from post and transferred to a post that pays you so low you almost have to quit relieving them of paying unemployment. They charge 20 an hr or more to client but will only pay you 10-11 an hr no matter how good of worker you are and no care for any employees life.!! And plan on working 45 mins to over an hr where you live! They also will not pay mileage rate like they used to for anyone working that far away. They promise you all kinds of things and use you to no end! Because of poor management people leave and there is higj turnover rate resulting in people having to work crazy hours 14-18 or more. EXTREME FAVORITISM and no internal job openings anymore. Im surprised the place is still running, or they haven't fired the operations manager!!!

Security Guard

Doing reports at assigned shifts, patrolling neighborhoods, taking license plate numbers, reviewing camera footage, lockdowns. Management was okay, except it felt like sometimes, they didn't have a clue on what was going on. But, they were also watching over a lot of different sites, besides just mine and my crews'
