Work experience in planning
A typical day at work will includes first the review of amount of sales of the previous day (units, local currency, margin, markdown). You have to run all reports and make an analysis of in stock. Replenish all stores if necessary.
Approve purchase orders if there is budget. Update the budget vs all purchase orders that have been approved.
Work on OTB (order to buy) and give feedback to buyers.
Check the stock level of the distribution center.
Track all containers.
I've learned to track and have control of all my departament, keep my KPI's on the desired level, work at a team, on how to create a budget and many other things.
The culture was great and all my planners team always were there to give you a hand when desired.
The hardest part of the job was a monthly OTB with many inputs because you have to project sales, on hand, on order, retail price, markdown, margin, etc. This process requires lot of time.
The most enjoyable was to work with planners from other departments and receive positive feedback from your supervisor.
