A typical day at work as a sales department manager was pretty busy. I had to checked sales of the day before, directed and supervised employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking and reconciling cash receipts; addressed customer inquiries and resolved complaints; determined staff promotions and demotions, and terminated employees when necessary; contributed to merchandising ideas at team sale meetings by analyzing marketing information and translating it into strategic plans and trained 18 people every day to deliver outstanding customer service.
The best part of the job was that you learnt new things everyday, about marketing, human resources, sales strategy and more. The hardest part was the long schedules that sometimes were more than 12 hours per day.
